Hands On Children’s Museum seeks qualified candidates for the following positions:

Visitor Services/Front Desk Supervisor We are looking for an experienced Supervisor who can ensure that our visitors receive the best Museum experience possible from the moment that they walk in the door. This is a fun and fast-paced job for the right person! We need a highly organized professional who thrives on the front lines in a busy, noisy and chaotic environment. Must be a great multi-tasker who understands operations, admissions and front desk. During a typical day you may be supervising staff and priorities, greeting customers, selling camps, field trips, and workshops, preparing detailed reports, registering preschool students, supporting the cashier/reception, touring groups, and assisting with special events! Position requires 2-3 years supervisory experience and supervises 2-5 staff in registration, reception and visitor services. Must be familiar with databases, word, & excel. Must be a systems-thinker able to grasp both manual and computer systems. Previous supervisory experience in a box office setting, or operations in the entertainment industry, museums, or educational setting very desirable. Some college preferred. M-F schedule with some evenings and weekends required around Museum events. Salary range $14-$17/hr DOQ + benefits.

Receptionist/Floor Staff: Reception: Greet museum visitors in person or on the phone, process admission, registration and gift shop transactions. Assist in preparation of registration and membership documents, daily and weekly reporting requirements. Assist in other front desk duties including, but not limited to: inventory, maintenance of lobby area, filing.
Floor Staff: Maintain the cleanliness, organization, supplies, functionality and safety of the museum exhibit galleries, restrooms, gift shop, storage areas and multi-purpose rooms. Assist museum visitors, groups, parties and educational programs. Excellent Customer Service skills required. Ability to lift 50 lbs and be on feet all day.
Must have own transportation. HS diploma req. PT, variable hours depending on museum needs Min. Wage-$8.50 per hour DOQ

Capital Campaign Manager:
Position: Capital Campaign Manager
Salary Range: DOQ - $40-$45K

Hours: Flex schedule around special events, campaigns and workload—requires core hours in the Museum on a Monday-Friday schedule plus occasional weekend and evening work around special events, projects, meetings and other functions.
Reports To: Executive Director
Description: This key position works closely with the Development Manager and Executive Director to coordinate all aspects of a landmark public/private partnership effort to raise $14 million in capital for a new Hands On Children’s Museum. ($8 million of the $14 million has been raised to date.) Duties include the implementation of all campaign strategies, systems and plans. For example, this person will manage and update the campaign timeline, help orchestrate the tasks and activities, write proposals and letters, coordinate campaign cultivation events, record strategy steps with donors, maintain frequent communications with Campaign staff, Committee and Campaign Counsel, to ensure successful completion of the three year campaign. This position is also responsible for grants coordination and some grant writing. This position will be supported by a part-time development and administrative assistant.

Visitor Services Staff:
Part-time Visitor Services positions available at the Hands On Children's Museum. Seeking candidates who are reliable, self-motivated, outgoing and have a strong work ethic. Must be able to communicate extensively with visitors, youth and staff in a positive, friendly manner and in a fast paced environment. Experience working with children beneficial. Primary duties include:

  • Providing excellent customer service by interacting positively with visitors, orienting groups, hosting birthday parties and engaging visitors with fun activities;
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of exhibit galleries and multi-purpose rooms and ensuring safety of visitors;
  • Responding to questions and assisting visitors with first aid needs and lost children;
  • Setting up and take down of multi-purpose rooms within short time frames;
  • Participating in special museum events, spcial projects and monthly department and staff meetings.
Part-time hours available weekends and weekdays plus flexibility to work some evenings -- Hands On is open 7 days per week. Minimum wage. EOE.
