FAQ
We are excited to share the New Hands On Children's Museum with you! Advance registration for timed entry is strongly recommended for all three Grand Opening days. Below are some answers to questions related to the Grand Opening Advance Registration.
Why timed entry?
We are expecting large crowds for the Grand Opening, so we are strongly recommending tickets for specific entry times to reduce congestion in an effort to make your first visit to the new museum more pleasant. Timed entries occur every 20 minutes (10am, 10:20am, etc.). We estimate a typical visit will last 2 hours.
How do I register for my timed entry?
Start by selecting a date above. Be sure to double check the date and time you selected. Your tickets will be available to print from your computer. In order to avoid additional waiting, please bring your printed tickets with you.
Do I need to register if I am a member?
Member tickets are free, but members still need printed e-tickets, a current museum membership on file with the museum, AND a picture ID for entry. Members who do not have their membership card can be looked up with their photo ID when checking in. Tickets can only be reserved for members listed on the museum's membership account and their qualified guests. All others will be required to pay full admission on one of the Public Grand Opening dates. (Note: New membership cards will be mailed out prior to Grand Opening events.)
How much are tickets if I am not a member?
Non-member ticket prices are as follows for the Public Grand Opening on Nov 11th & 12th: General Admission (age 2+), $9.95; Seniors (62+), $7.95; Toddlers (12-23 months), $6.95; Babies (0-11 months) are free but a ticket is still required. Military and foster families with valid ID receive a $2 discount on each ticket. Please note that online orders are non-refundable.
Can I still purchase a membership?
Absolutely!
Click here for information on how to become a member and you too can attend the Members Only Grand Opening on Nov. 10!
When is free admission?
The Museum opens free to the community the first Friday night of every month from 5pm-9pm. The first Free Friday Night in the New Museum is Friday, December 7.
What about parking?
Paid parking is available in the Museum's lot north of the building and in the metered spots on the surrounding streets.
Annual parking passes are also available for purchase to current members. You can avoid parking hassles by taking
Intercity Transit. The Museum is only two blocks away from the downtown transit center.
Are strollers allowed in the museum?
Yes, however you will be required to leave it in the lobby stroller parking during your visit.
Do I need advance tickets to visit the museum after November 12?
No, except for special events.
Will there be food for purchase at the museum?
The new Museum features the Healthy Foods Café, serving healthy food and espresso drinks. You may bring your own snacks, but they must be eaten in the Café or outdoors, and seating preference is given to guests with a Café purchase.
Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you at Grand Opening!
