Spice up your homeschool curriculum with our 4-part Winter workshop series of hands-on science and art experiences designed for students ages 6-11* years. The 2-hour workshops are filled with hands-on art enhancement and cooperative skill-building games. Don't miss these exciting workshops! Workshop registration includes daily museum exploration for the student and their adult. Registration is required.
Experience how easy wool felting can be! Felt up a bar of soap to learn the basic techniques and move onto creating artistic felt balls and beads that can be used to make a unique jewelry.
Join us in our lab as we mix up everyday ingredients to create amazing science experiments that leave you wondering… Make raisins dance, balloons inflate and deflate without using your breath, and give a penny a face lift.
Be part of a kid circuit system and assemble a motor that runs on sunlight! Learn how plants capture sun energy and turn it into food.
Change states of matter from a crystal to a cloud. Become a drop of water and ‘flow’ through our museum galleries as you learn about the water cycle. Learn how to keep our water cleaner for the Sound’s plants and animals.
Discover amazing animals and their adaptations that make them survivors. Create an ape mask and learn which primate builds nests like a bird, build a maze to race your robot bug and discover who uses their voice to ‘see’ in the dark. May 17 The Art of Japan Discover the art and design of traditional Japanese art. Create a troop of Kabuki theater puppets and study kimonos patterns to learn to identify the who’s who on stage. Use bamboo brushes to create Sumi paintings and practice using your chop sticks.
Learn to read the black and white markings on an orca whale to identify who’s who in the pod. Construct a spiny dogfish or a brown cat shark as we compare the sharks of the Puget Sound and the Pacific Ocean.
Learn to identify a tree’s age with tree cookies, create a leaf animal collage, and build the tallest tree and discover who live there.
*For homeschool students ages 6-11 (must be 6 by Sept. 1st of current school year). Preregistration is required.
