Part-time Preschool Assistant Teacher

 

This important member of the Education Department team supports the lead teacher in our Preschool Program.  This position may also support museum camp and workshop programs,  assists with materials preparation, cleaning/sanitizing equipment, facilitation of activities. 

 

Approx. 20 hours/week.  Core schedule is Monday through Friday.

 

--B.A. preferred, minimum A.A. with Early Childhood focus.  C.D.A./STARS certification desired

--Minimum 2 years experience working directly with children 2-5 years in a preschool or daycare setting.  

--Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and oral communication skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. 

--Must be able to lift 50 lbs and be on feet most of the day.

Part-time Visitor Services positions available at the Hands On Children's Museum. Seeking candidates who are reliable, self-motivated, outgoing and have a strong work ethic. Must be able to communicate extensively with visitors, youth and staff in a positive, friendly manner and in a fast paced environment. Experience working with children beneficial. Primary duties include:

  • Providing excellent customer service by interacting positively with visitors, orienting groups, hosting birthday parties and engaging visitors with fun activities;
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of exhibit galleries and multi-purpose rooms and ensuring safety of visitors;
  • Responding to questions and assisting visitors with first aid needs and lost children;
  • Setting up and take down of multi-purpose rooms within short time frames;
  • Participating in special museum events, special projects and monthly department and staff meetings.

 

Part-time hours available weekends and weekdays plus flexibility to work some evenings -- Hands On is open 7 days per week. Minimum wage. EOE.
