Project Reaches First Major Milestone:

Thanks to generous gifts from our Capital Campaign and Board, a major grant from the Gates Foundation, and lead individual gifts, the Museum reached the $12M mark toward our $18M Capital Campaign to build the New Hands On Children's Museum on East Bay!  Architects unveiled the latest designs for the new Museum which include a waterfront-style warehouse building with an iconic water tower - representing the Museum's major focus on water both inside and out.  The new facility includes an expanded version of some of the Museum's favorite exhibits along with a new cooking studio, inventor's studio, and a new  gallery focused on the Wild Woods.  Designs for the new Outdoor Learning Center are especially exciting and include interactive water features, a wetland, driftwood forts, children's garden, forest look-out towers and many other exciting additions.  The new Museum is expected to break ground in about a year and open by early 2011.
