This exciting new 7-week series puts a fun, interactive spin on parent education to help prepare you for your role as your child’s first teacher. The program is designed so parents and children have fun learning together.

Topics include:

  • Jan 15, 2008: Introduction to Parents As Teachers Series and the Born to Learn Curriculum.
  • Feb 19, 2008:Music & Movement/Moving & Shaking Exercise your body and brain with music, movement and fun! Learn how the brain sends and receives messages and remembers experiences as you take part in fun, high-energy family activities like hula hoops and doing the “Twist”.
  • March 18, 2008: Build-a-Brain Explore the five senses of the baby/toddler and how they develop from birth.
  • April 15, 2008: Social-Emotional Development & Attachment Explore feeling patterns, learn how to avoid sensory overload, and discover the importance of social-emotional development and attachment.
  • May 20, 2008: I’m Going to Be a Big Brother/Sister Parents and children can share questions and concerns, discuss sibling rivalry, and learn more through parent-child interactions such as lullaby sing-a-longs. Children will receive take-home songbook.
  • Jun 17, 2008: Infant/Baby Massage Caring touch is good for everyone – especially infants, who are new to the world, and need the reassurance of someone special being there for them. Ease the pain of colic spasms or gas; increase your awareness of baby’s needs; and nurture the bonding process with your baby.
  • Jul 15, 2008: Messy Play/ Messy Food Forget what your mother told you about not playing with your food! Topics covered include: Parent’s Little Helper, Play is Learning, and Stress and Children Don’t Mix. Includes a child-friendly recipe book to take home.
