Arts Walk Fall 2022

Olympia Arts Walk is a semi-annual community event celebrating the arts. In a typical year, thousands gather in downtown Olympia in both the Spring and Fall for a festive arts experience that uses creativity to connect and engage. Street closures are October 7-8, and throughout the month art displays, programs and activities will be presented by participating locations and artists.

Artist Statement

As a longtime resident of Olympia, my artistic imagination has been captured by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest and has been the subject of many of my best paintings. This particular series reveals my impression of ten familiar community landmarks. My medium since 2015 has been soft pastel. Pastel being pure pigment that sits on the surface of paper creates vibrancy and luminosity not seen in other media. It has given me an ability to showcase my love of color and light. I strive to paint loose impressionistic works and not photorealistic recreations.
