Arts Walk Spring 2023

Olympia Arts Walk is a semi-annual community event celebrating the arts. Since 1990, thousands gather in downtown Olympia in both the Spring and Fall for a festive arts experience that uses creativity to connect and engage. 2023 Dates are April 28-29 and October 6-7.

Experience Arts Walk with Hands On

Throughout April, the Museum will feature paintings by local artist, Katie Harmon in the Play Day Café. It’s a whimsical collection of adorable animals and “animal celebrations” in ink and watercolor.

Admission during Arts Walk is free April 28, 5-8 pm. During Arts Walk hours there may be adults in the Museum without children.

Arts Walk Activities

• Artist Meet & Greet (April 28, 5 – 8 pm). Meet Katie Harmon and see her exhibit in the Play Day Café. She will have fungus mushroom coloring pages and fun supplies for kids to make their own whimsical mushroom art. Visitors can also enjoy a tour of the Museum’s permanent art collection.

About the Artist

I love capturing movement & grace – a moment in time just before it becomes something new. It’s a challenge to interpret form & texture into the stark contrasts of black & white, then re-imagine it into the brilliant hues of watercolor.

As I continue to grow as an artist & experiment with different subject matter, I find myself gravitating to forms with movement. I’m excited by prospects of dresses, dance, hair, sea life & fish with their glorious fins. Moments of beauty forever frozen in time on my page.

I believe a piece of art is only great if it connects with you on an emotional level.

My goal is to find a moment that moves you emotionally. A moment that captures your glance and gives you pause to enjoy that moment of beauty with me.
