Education Programs Manager
Meaghan holds two bachelor’s degrees in French and Spanish and a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature, as well as a teaching certification in Elementary Education (multiple subjects), with an emphasis on English as a Second Language and Urban Education. Meaghan recently joined the education team after two years at home with her five- and two-year-old children and her teaching experience includes elementary, middle, and high school as well as college level courses at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Betsy DeBoer
Curricular Advisor
Betsy has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Betsy has been with HOCM for 16 years and has played a key role in developing our preschool into the wonderful educational program that it is today. While she is no longer teaching preschool classes, Betsy is serving in a curricular advisory role for our teachers. We are very grateful to have her expertise!

Natasha Ivanichek
Teacher
Natasha holds degrees in Ecology and Geography and has been with the Hands On Preschool Program for 6 years. She is also a lead camp teacher here at the museum and is a gifted artist and photographer.

Ben Michaelis
Teacher
Ben Michaelis has been with the museum since 2012. The leader of our field trip program, Ben also oversees our offsite events and partner programs. Ben originated our Pre-K music camps here at the museum, and you may also recognize Ben as Dr. Science! Ben holds a BA in Performance Studies and is an active musician and actor in our community.

Allie Deaton

Allie has an AA degree in Intercultural Communications and has studied Spanish, Latin American Studies, and Youth Education at The Evergreen State College. Allie is fluent in Spanish and American Sign Language and has worked in our preschool program for one year.

Ashley has an AA degree in Early Childhood Education and worked as a preschool teacher for many years before joining the Front Desk team here at Hands On. We are happy to welcome Ashley to our preschool team!
Payton Ervine
Payton Ervine
Teacher
Payton is graduating with an AA this Spring from South Puget Sound Community College, with hopes of continuing his education to become a Pediatric Speech Therapist. Payton has been a member of the museum’s Gallery Services team since 2018 and is ready to bring his energy to a new corner of the museum!
Elisabeth Manuputty
Elisabeth Manuputty
Teacher
Elisabeth has a BA in Ethnomusicology and worked as a music teacher for elementary and preschool teacher for many years in Indonesia. She is an active dancer in Olympia Swing and Salsa community, and teaches an Indonesian children’s choir online.
