MakeSpace

Located next to the Arts & Parts Studio, the MakeSpace is the “making” hub at the Museum. From electric scissors to art-producing robots and from silk screen presses to sewing machines, the MakeSpace is a place where you can learn new skills and let your creativity shine!

Our indoor and outdoor “maker” programming taps into children’s natural instinct to create and promotes the power of learning by doing. As children design, tinker, and experiment with diverse materials and tools, they develop foundational science and math skills that can benefit them in school and in life.

Making in the Outdoors

In the Outdoor Discovery Center, we offer special Nature Makers activities that link nature-based outdoor learning with making activities that use natural materials and are inspired by the “making” and design that occurs in the natural world. Watch for exciting developments with this new program, including insect hotels, mini fort-building, an outdoor kitchen, learning from Native artisans and other special guests, and much more!
